Hello! I am Pedro Lázaro Rodríguez. This is just an academic CV webpage.

I have a Ph.D. in Social Sciences by the University of Granada (Spain) and my research is focused on Information and Scientific Communication. I work as an Assistant Professor of Library and Information Science at the Complutense University of Madrid. As a researcher, I am a member of INFOBISOC, a research group on Information, Libraries and Society. On the other hand, I have just become the Deputy Editor of RIBES, a Spanish scientific journal on libraries, education and society.

    COBib-Públicas is an observatory of public libraries in Spain during the Covid-19 pandemic based on digital news. The project has been published as a web page including digital news on public libraries from January to May 2020. COBib-Públicas is conceived as a place to get information about the Spanish public libraries during the Covid-19 pandemic
  8. 2016
    Secaba-Rank: Secaba-Rank is an online tool that includes Secaba-Rank Universitarias and Secaba-Rank Publicas, which can be used to evaluate both Spanish university libraries and public reading networks. Using a systemic approach, the methodology makes use of second level indicators focused on efficiency. This methodology facilitates the benchmarking of libraries to find models of good practice in order to improve. Secaba-Rank is an essential tool for decision making by researchers and managers in libraries

    Tampere University (Finland); 40 days in 2019; with Pertti Vakkari as my research host. We focused our research on a study entitled: "Library Use, University Resources and Student Quality in Predicting Students’ Academic Performance: The Case of Spanish On-Site Public Universities". It is available as a chapter of my thesis (Chapter 8.1)
  2. 2018
    University of Amsterdam; 3 months in 2018; with Frank Huysmans as my research host. Thanks to Frank Huysmans I learned statistical analysis with R (using RStudio). Since them, it is the software I use for my research. Also, we started a project about latent variable analysis comparing the Spanish, the Dutch and the Finnish public library sistems
  3. 2017
    Tampere University (Finland); 3 months in 2017; with Pertti Vakkari as my research host. Thanks to this stay with Pertti Vakkari, I learned Regression Analysis and we published a paper entitled "Modelling public library use by library characteristic: a comparative study between Spain and Finland for loans and visits". https://doi.org/10.3989/redc.2018.4.1544 (open access)

  • Extraordinary PhD award from the University of Granada 2019-2020 for my thesis entitled Analysis, Evaluation, and Development of Tools and Methods for the Improvement of Libraries [Análisis, evaluación y desarrollo de herramientas y métodos para la mejora de bibliotecas]
  • I was awarded the prize "Luís de Camões Chair of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid" to the best study by young researchers (under 35 years old) presented as a communication to EDICIC 2019 (Iberian Meeting of the Iberoamerican and Caribbean Association of Education and Research in Information Science)
